The Tom Price Kidney Dialysis Unit (TPKDU) continues to move forward, with important foundations now in place to ensure the facility is safe, resilient and built to serve the community in the future.
As planning progresses, detailed investigations identified the need to strengthen flood protection at the site and ensure the future building is appropriately protected from potential bushfire threat. In response, a flood levee wall and associated civil works have been completed to support flood mitigation, and a Bushfire Management Plan (BMP) has been developed.
These requirements have informed the ongoing refinement of the site layout, with the team currently working to finalise the building position to ensure it is safe, compliant and well-suited to the site conditions.
This proactive step reflects a strong commitment to safety and long-term sustainability.
The project is progressing through development approval with the Shire of Ashburton. We are currently finalising remaining requirements with the Shire, with approval expected shortly. Once approval is received, the project is planned to move to tender in the next month, with PAHA reaching out to Aboriginal organisations that have expressed interest in being involved.
The Tom Price Kidney Dialysis Unit is now expected to open in the first half of 2027. This timeline reflects the careful work undertaken to address site conditions properly and delivery a high-quality facility that will support the community for many years to come.
Alongside construction planning, PAHA will continue working with the community on elements such as gardening, landscaping and spaces to ensure that the dialysis unit is welcoming and connected to place.
